Try out this interactive subtraction facts drill with your students to help them achieve math fact fluency. This online math game is geared toward a first-grade skill level and features subtraction problems presented in a drill-style format. When children practice subtraction facts using this timed math drill, they will increase their confidence and proficiency in basic subtraction.
Students will solve a variety of subtraction facts within ten in this interactive math lesson. Here are just a few of the math facts children may be required to solve: 9 – 1; 1 – 1; 8 – 6; 6 – 1; and 6 – 5. If students get stuck on a question, they can click the "Hint" button to see a visual clue that will help them think about the math fact in a new way without giving away the answer. When students answer a question incorrectly, a detailed explanation page will show them the correct answer accompanied by an easy-to-understand explanation. As students practice their subtraction skills and progress through their lesson, they will learn from mistakes along the way.
This first-grade subtraction drill is equipped with several handy features to help students make the most of their math practice session. A progress-tracker in the upper-right corner of the practice screen shows students how many questions they have answered out of the total number of questions in the lesson. A score-tracker beneath the progress-tracker lets students see how many points they have earned so far for correct answers. The speaker icon in the upper-left corner of the practice screen indicates the read-aloud feature; students can click the button to have the question read out loud to them in a clear voice.
