Interactive Math Lesson - Advanced Skip Counting

Children will practice skip counting by 2s, 5s, and 10s in this advanced skip counting lesson from iKnowIt.com. This online math activity is geared toward second grade and will help students become confident and proficient in advanced skip counting skills. With a variety of question types and a fun, interactive format, this online math game is an excellent activity to supplement a comprehensive skip counting lesson.

Students will be challenged by a variety of engaging math questions in this second-grade skip counting activity. For example, children may be asked to count backward by fives and fill in the number that completes the pattern. Or they may be asked to count by twos and determine which two numbers complete the pattern. Or they may be required to count by tens to figure out which number comes next in the sequence. If students need a little extra help solving a problem, they can click on the "Hint" button. They will be shown a relevant written or pictorial clue that will help them solve the skip counting problem without giving away the answer. When students answer a question incorrectly, they will be shown a detailed explanation page to guide them through the steps for solving the question correctly. Children will move through the lesson having learned from previous mistakes.

This online skip counting game is equipped with several lesson features that help students make the most of their math practice session. A speaker icon in the upper-left corner of the practice screen indicates the read-aloud feature. Kids can click the button to have the question read out loud to them in a clear voice. This is a great option for ESL/ELL students and children who excel with auditory learning. A progress-tracker in the upper-right corner of the practice screen shows students how many questions they have answered so far out of the total number of questions in the lesson. Plus, a score-tracker lets students check in to see how many points they have earned for correct answers. Every feature in our I Know It lessons is designed with your students' success in mind.
